Collection of Psychotechnical Instruments

At the Department of Pshycological, Pedagogical and Educational Science is preserved a hundred instruments  and equipments of considerable value, for the measurement of psychophysical variables, the mnestic processes, for the evaluation of attention and reaction times  and for the simultaneous graphic recording of numerous physiological processes. Some of them are restored and made functional.

Most of them come from the Centre of Occupational Psychology of ENPI (National Institute for Accident Prevention, in the early fifties located in the University Psychology Institute’s rooms) and from the Psychology Department of the University Service of Preventive Medicine (SUMP) in Palermo. Other tools come from the Psychology Institute of the Faculty of Magisterium and from the Psychology Institute of the Faculty of Medicine.

Prof. Giovanni Sprini has started the initial inventory activity with the aim of recovering and making available these instruments, which have marked the birth and  development of psychology in Italy, since the second postwar period.
