Aquarium

The aquatic plant collection

The large circular basin of the Aquarium, dating back to the founding of the Botanical Garden and built in 1796, houses part of the aquatic plant collection in its 24 compartments.

In the three concentric basins at varying depths, plants with different water requirements are accommodated, depending on the length of their root systems.

Among these are the well-known Indian Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera) and various species of water lilies, whose colorful blooms can be admired throughout the summer.
