The heart of this focus of study and scientific discussion, with a view to caring for the environment and safeguarding biodiversity, is the cultural and social commitment of the institution within the historic Geological Museum Gemmellaro in Palermo.

Palermo as a crossroads of scientific research and debate on biodiversity to mark the 40th anniversary of the reopening of the University's Gemmellaro Museum of Paleontology. The anniversary coincides with an internationally significant scientific event that will place our city at the center of the debate on the role of natural history museums as a cultural heritage and the protection of biodiversity, with the 7th International Congress on Biodiversity and the 9th Congress of the Italian Society of Malacology, scheduled for November 28 and 29.
