The Botanical Garden of Palermo hosts the SIEP-IALE 2025 congress that will address the topic of the NATURE RESTORATION LAW. Role and challenges for Landscape Ecology.
The Nature Restoration Law, which came into force in 2024, is the new European challenge to restore degraded ecosystems and protect biodiversity. By 2030, at least 20% of terrestrial and marine areas will have to be regenerated. But to achieve this goal, an approach based on landscape ecology is needed: understanding the history, structure and functions of ecosystems to intervene effectively and sustainably.
In Palermo we will discuss projects, methods and ideas to make this vision a reality. The future of our landscapes begins now.
The Congress, organized by the Botanical Garden of Palermo in collaboration with the Italian Society of Landscape Ecology SIEP-IALE, includes two days at the Botanical Garden and an excursion to the Bosco della Tassita in the Nebrodi Regional Park.
