Alberi di Palermo

This book is a valuable and useful tool for all those who wish to recognise the multiform and complex woody plant component present in the parks, gardens and streets of Palermo, the city with the highest diversity of ornamental species in both Sicily and Italy.
Our bond with plants is undoubtedly ancestral and we can hardly remain indifferent to their beauty and the extraordinary variety of shapes and colours of leaves, flowers and fruit. But in today's cities, as well as being decorative, this flora can also be defined as “structural” precisely because of the close intrinsic relationship that the plant, the green, manages to establish with the person, the citizen.
The book contains more than 150 tree and shrub species accompanied by a detailed descriptive card and a conspicuous number of images relating to the most salient and significant phenological stages, allowing the reader to compare the species observed in person with those reported in the volume, drawing useful information for rapid recognition. In order to enable the correct identification of species during the winter season, when various trees and shrubs are bare or have no flowers or fruit, the text is also accompanied by pictures of the characters of the stem bark and a table of buds.
