Quadreria Mediterranea

History
Inaugurated on December 15, 2014, the "Quadreria Mediterranea" is a collection of contemporary art composed of paintings acquired or donated in the 20th century. Initially set up in the Sala delle Armi, it has 40 works, many from the administrative offices of the Complex. Among the authors stand out Filippo De Pisis, Ottone Rosai, Giovanni Omiccioli, Sebastiano Milluzzo, Nino Garajo, Gianbecchina and Vaquero. The collection also includes contemporary artists such as Ceccotti, Cano, Pignatelli, Iudice, Signorini, Pecoraino, Martorelli, Caputo, Nucci, Conti Cammarata, Catalano, Guccione and Cordio. The jewel in the crown is La Vucciria by Renato Guttuso, today exhibited in an immersive installation in the Sala delle Armi. Created in 1974, this famous three-by-three-meter painting represents the Palermo market with great realism, evoking the colors, scents and voices of the place.
