The Botanical Garden celebrates its 230th anniversary

During the "Zagara di primavera 2025" event, the logo celebrating the 230th anniversary of the Palermo Botanical Garden was unveiled on May 16th.
A SYMBOL OF HISTORY AND FUTURE
This logo is a tribute to the Garden's history, identity, and roots, told in a single image. The two eighteenth-century columns represent the entrance to the "Quartini di Linneo," the original core of the Garden dating back to 1795. Two eighteenth-century vases placed on top of the columns contain Ophiopogon plants, which symbolize longevity and wisdom. In the center, the inscription "230 Orto Botanico di Palermo 1795-2025" celebrates its journey and commitment to the future.
LOOKING AHEAD
This logo will be featured at upcoming events the Botanical Garden will organize until December 9, 2025, the official date of its 230th anniversary.
On that occasion, specifically on Thursday, December 11, 2025, the Garden will host a major conference on Italian botanical gardens and historic gardens. The event will be an opportunity to reflect on their role—in education, research, and enhancement—and their mission in society.
This symbol celebrates the Garden's long and prestigious history, while projecting it toward the future and inspiring people to discover and protect the beauty of nature.
