The Theriological Collection
This collection includes approximately 200 specimens preserved in liquid and about 250 dry specimens from Europe, Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Australia. Though it is the museum’s smallest collection, it offers a representative overview of global mammalian biodiversity. Alongside Sicilian specimens like the Sicilian wolf (Canis lupus) and the Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus), one can also find exotic fauna such as the Common opossum (Didelphis marsupialis), the Platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus), and the Caspian seal (Pusa caspica).
